Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Are E-Motos street legal, and do I need a license, registration, or insurance?

Most E-Motos sold by Voltage Motorsports are designed primarily for off-road and private-property use, unless a specific model is expressly classified for legal on-road operation.

Street legality, licensing, registration, and insurance requirements vary depending on the bike's classification and state and local regulations. Motor output, top speed, equipment, and where you intend to ride can all affect these requirements.

Before operating an E-Moto on public roads, bike paths, parks, or trail systems, riders should verify the laws and regulations that apply in their area.

How do I choose the right E-Moto, and are they beginner friendly?

Absolutely. We carry options for everyone from first-time riders to experienced off-road enthusiasts.

The right bike depends on your height, riding experience, terrain, riding style, and performance expectations. Many models feature adjustable power or riding modes, allowing newer riders to start with manageable performance and progress as their skills and confidence improve.

Not sure which one is right for you? Talk to the Voltage Motorsports team. We'll help you compare models and find a bike that fits you and the way you want to ride.

How fast do E-Motos go, and how far can they travel on a charge?

Performance varies significantly between models.

Top speed and range can be affected by rider weight, terrain, riding mode, temperature, elevation, acceleration, tire pressure, and riding style. Aggressive trail riding will generally use more battery than cruising at moderate speeds.

Manufacturer specifications for top speed, battery capacity, charging, and estimated range are provided on individual product pages whenever available. Manufacturer range figures are estimates, and real-world results will vary.

How are bikes shipped, and will I need to assemble mine?

Bikes being shipped typically arrive securely packaged and partially assembled. Depending on the model, some final setup may be required, such as installing or adjusting the handlebars, front wheel, controls, or other components.

Customers who aren't comfortable completing the final setup should have the bike assembled and inspected by a qualified technician.

For qualifying local purchases, Voltage Motorsports can also offer professional assembly, pickup, and local delivery options, including having your new bike fully assembled and ready to ride.
